Robert Schlimmer Injured, Henry Mitchell Involved in Highway 101 Crash [Crescent City, CA]
Robert Schlimmer Hospitalized, Henry Mitchell Unharmed in Tractor-Trailer Collision on Highway 101 Near Mile Marker 15.76
CRESCENT CITY, CA (June 19, 2020)—A 70-year-old man sustained major injuries following Wednesday’s collision with a tractor-trailer on Highway 101 near Mile Marker 15.76.
Around 11 a.m., Robert Schlimmer was traveling southbound on the highway in his 1974 MG MGB convertible. Unknowingly, he began approaching a 2020 Freightliner and semi-trailer, which was stopped at milepost marker 15.76.
Schlimmer became unable to stop his convertible prior to slamming into the rear of the tractor-trailer, driven by a 66-year-old Blue Lake man.
The accident summoned California Highway Patrol and other emergency personnel to the scene, where officials administered medical assistance to Schlimmer, of Brookings, Ore.
Moments later, paramedics transported him to Sutter Coast Hospital for additional treatment.
A report of the collision indicated that the Freightliner’s driver, Henry Mitchell, did not need hospitalization assistance.
According to investigations, alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor in this accident; however, the incident remains under investigation by the Crescent City CHP office.
