One Dies in Motorcycle Crash on Union Street [Humboldt County, CA]
Speeding Leads to Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Humboldt County
HUMBOLDT COUNTY, CA (June 18, 2020) – Police confirmed that one person died in a motorcycle crash on Union Street on Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened at the intersection of W. Hawthorn Street around 7:58 PM.
An initial report showed that the victim was driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed prior to the incident. As a result, the motorcycle collided with a van that was crossing the intersection at that time.
Officers of the Eureka Police Department located the motorcyclist unresponsive in the roadway. After performing lifesaving efforts, medical personnel transported the victim to St Joseph Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Authorities did not release his name prior to kin notification.
In addition, crews also took the driver of the van to St Joseph’s ER to be treated for unknown injuries.
This case is still under investigation. However, further updates will be released when appropriate.
