Man Killed in Scooter-Vehicle Accident on Silver Lake Boulevard Near Effie Street [Los Angeles, CA]
Scooter Rider Dies in Los Angeles Accident on Silver Lake Boulevard
LOS ANGELES, CA (June 18, 2020) — A scooter rider died following Wednesday’s accident on Silver Lake Boulevard near Effie Street.
According to officials, First Responders arrived at the scene around 10:35 a.m. Officials found a man with severe injuries and a 72-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man in need of hospitalization.
The critically injured man died at the scene shortly after while paramedics rushed the remaining two patients to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to a witness’s account, a dark-colored SUV was speeding along Silver Lake Boulevard before it used the opposing lanes of traffic to pass other vehicles. Another witness stated that the SUV had been traveling at least twice the posted speed limit at the time.
From there, the SUV struck the scooter rider before losing control and slamming errantly into L & E Oyster Bar, which, fortunately, had not been occupied at the time.
Officials have yet to confirm these accounts and will be investigating the case more closely to determine the cause.
Due to the crash, county building and safety officials arrived to inspect L & E Oyster Bar only to find it with significant damage.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
