Michael Culligan Arrested After Deadly Hit-and-Run on Santa Lucia Canyon Road [Lompoc, CA]
One Killed, One Airlifted After DUI Crash in Lompoc; Police Arrest Michael Culligan
LOMPOC, CA (June 16, 2020) – Police arrested Michael Culligan after a deadly hit-and-run on Santa Lucia Canyon Road on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Victory Road between the Lompoc Federal Prison and Vandenberg Air Force Base around 12:22 PM.
Officers said that the collision occurred after a Jeep crossed into the opposite lane of the road. As a result, it collided head-on with a Lexus sedan. In addition, the Jeep driver, 29-year-old Culligan of Lompoc, fled the scene after the incident.
As a result, the driver of the Lexus died in the crash. Crews identified the victim as a 35-year-old man from Santa Maria.
The victim’s passenger suffered major injuries and was airlifted to the hospital.
Culligan is currently in federal custody. Police continue to investigate the crash.
