Male Fatally Hit by Transit Bus in Oakland Pedestrian Accident on 80 Freeway
OAKLAND, CA (June 15, 2020) — A man died after being struck by a transit bus in a pedestrian accident on 80 Freeway near the Bay Bridge toll plaza Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a preliminary investigation has led authorities to believe that the pedestrian was trying to cross the westbound lanes around 2:50 a.m. Around this time, an oncoming AC Transit bus struck him, causing him fatal injuries.
The CHP has no information as to why the pedestrian had been on the freeway in the first place; however, so far, they have ruled out impairment as a possible factor in the accident.
Due to the limited information on this crash, an investigation continues.
