Hal Sutherland Arrested After Hit-and-Run on Hilltop Drive [Redding, CA]
DUI Driver Arrested After Head-On Crash near the Peppertree Apartments
REDDING, CA (June 10, 2020) – Redding Police officers arrested Hal Sutherland after a hit-and-run on Hilltop Drive on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near the Peppertree Apartments at approximately 3:30 PM.
A black Ford F150 driven by Sutherland, 33, of Redding, was traveling south on Hilltop when it made a left turn at the intersection. As a result, it crashed head-on into a white van that was traveling north on the road. In addition, Sutherland then fled the area on foot.
Paramedics rescued the driver and passenger of the van who sustained lacerations. As a result, they sent the driver to a local hospital for treatment.
Officers located Sutherland several blocks from the scene of the crash. RPD officers arrested and booked him into the Shasta County Jail for driving under the influence causing injury, fleeing the scene of a collision, and violating the terms of his post-release community supervision.
Never drink and drive and always pay attention to the road to avoid getting into an accident. Do not leave the scene after an accident. However, stay and wait for the authorities to arrive.
