17-Year-Old Fatally Struck in Escondido Pedestrian Accident on Mesa Rock Road
ESCONDIDO, CA (June 8, 2020) — A 17-year-old girl died following Saturday’s hit-and-run pedestrian accident on Mesa Rock Road near Mesa Ranch Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 12:36 a.m. Authorities say the 17-year-old and her three friends were crossing the road when an oncoming northbound vehicle, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck her.
Soon after, paramedics transported her to a nearby hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.
As for the driver, he or she did not stop to render aid. Witnesses described the car as a white 2008 to 2012 model, possibly a second-generation Toyota Highlander that had sustained right front headlight damage.
