Jakob Petitto Arrested in Spokane Valley Police Chase Crash
SPOKANE VALLEY, WA (June 5, 2020) — Police arrested a motorcyclist fleeing from police after causing Thursday’s crash on Sprague Avenue near North Havana Street.
According to the Spokane Sherriff’s Office, Deputy Brandon Wilson saw a motorcyclist on a black Yamaha with neither a helmet nor a license plate on the bike. Wilson tried making a traffic stop by activating his lights and sirens to pull him over.
However, the man on the bike, later identified as Jakob D. Petitto, failed to comply and took off on Sprague Avenue. The 26-year-old motorcyclist blew through a red light in the 5200 block of Sprague Avenue and tried passing cars in the turn lane before consequently striking another vehicle.
Petitto finally gave into police’s commands and was arrested shortly thereafter. Police booked him into the Spokane County Jail on multiple charges including attempting to elude police and failing to wear a helmet, among others.
Paramedics transported him to a local hospital for his minor injuries. As for the driver in the other vehicle, he or she escaped harm.
It’s unclear at this point whether the motorcycle had been stolen or not.
