Esfandiar Nikbakhshtali Arrested After Fatal Hit-and-Run on Curtner Avenue [San Jose, CA]
Suspected DUI Driver Involved in Fatal San Jose Hit-and-Run
SAN JOSE, CA (May 30, 2020) – Police arrested 76-year-old Esfandiar Nikbakhshtali after a hit-and-run on Curtner Avenue on late Saturday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Canoas Gardens Avenue around 11:25 PM.
A report showed that the Santa Clara man was driving a gold-colored 2000 Dodge Caravan when he hit a 64-year-old woman. The victim was crossing the street at the time of the crash. In addition, Nikbakhshtali did not stop at the scene after the incident.
As a result, emergency crews rushed the victim to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office did not release the victim’s identity.
Police later arrested Nikbakhshtali on suspicion of hit-and-run, driving while under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
