Toniyo Atkinson Arrested After Deadly DUI Crash on Lynwood Avenue [San Bernardino, CA]
Suspected DUI Driver Toniyo Atkinson Involved in Deadly Broadside Crash
SAN BERNARDINO, CA (June 1, 2020) – Police arrested Toniyo Atkinson after a deadly DUI crash on Lynwood Avenue on early Monday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Mountain Avenue just after 2:14 AM.
A report from the San Bernardino Police said that Atkinson, 42, was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe when he ran a red light. As a result, the SUV broadsided a Honda Accord driven by a 37-year-old San Bernardino resident.
As a result, the driver of the Accord, an unidentified man, died of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities withheld the victim’s identity pending the notification of their relatives.
Speed and alcohol were factors in the collision. In addition, police arrested Atkinson on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
