Noelia Gastelum Dead, 1 Injured in Phoenix Accident
PHOENIX, AZ (May 27, 2020) – Police identified Noelia Gastelum as the victim who died in a pedestrian accident on 17 Freeway on early Monday morning.
According to the Phoenix Police Department, the accident happened near Indian School Road.
Rescuers from Phoenix Fire Department found two people in the lanes. A report showed that an unidentified vehicle struck the victims and exited the freeway. After that, the vehicle then stopped near 23rd Avenue and Camelback Road.
As a result, emergency crews pronounced 28-year-old Gastelum of Phoenix dead at the scene. In addition, they also sent a 30-year-old woman to a local hospital in serious condition.
Officials charged the car driver, 28-year-old Palina Khastal with failure to remain at the scene of a fatal crash.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the case. However, they are not releasing more details at the moment.
