Man Killed in Car and Train Crash on Golden State Boulevard [Fresno, CA]
Car Struck by Train in Deadly Crash near Maple Avenue
FRESNO, CA (May 31, 2020) – Police confirmed that a man died in a car and train crash on Golden State Boulevard on Sunday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Maple Avenue before 3:00 PM.
An initial report showed that, due to an unknown reason, the victim did not stop his car at a stop sign before starting to cross the tracks. As a result, a Union Pacific train hit his vehicle. In addition, the train was reportedly going about 30 miles per hour at the time of the crash.
First responders removed the victim from the car. They tried to revive him, but he died at the scene.
Officials did not confirm if drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident. However, they continue to investigate the case.
