Head-On Accident in Victorville Ends in Injuries
VICTORVILLE, CA (May 29, 2020) — Paramedics transported three people to a hospital following Thursday’s head-on collision on Hesperia Road near Seneca Road.
According to officials, the Victorville Police Department responded to the intersection to find a major injury crash before them.
Multiple callers had reported the accident, stating that at least one of the cars was on fire, with an occupant trapped inside.
Arriving deputies found a 19-year-old man from Victorville trapped inside a 2000 Ford, although awake and conscious. They also found a 32-year-old woman from Hesperia unconscious and trapped inside a 2017 Hyundai.
It appears the crash caused an engine compartment of the Ford vehicle to catch on fire before it began spreading to the passenger side of the vehicle. However, several deputies tried extinguishing the flames before the Victorville City Fire Department arrived.
Shortly after, paramedics transported both drivers to nearby trauma centers.
Two passengers riding in the Ford became successful in exiting the vehicle without the assistance of First Responders. However, one passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash.
Per investigations, authorities determined that one driver was traveling north at a high rate of speed on Hesperia Road and lost control of the vehicle. The car consequently struck the southbound vehicle head-on.
Investigators have yet to confirm the underlying cause of the accident and encourage witnesses to come forward with information.
