Joshua Morris Arrested, Amy Litteral Dead in Murrieta DUI Accident
MURRIETA, CA (May 26, 2020) – A 43-year-old woman died following Friday’s DUI multi-vehicle crash at Winchester and Thompson roads.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the 4:00 p.m. accident took place at the intersection.
Investigators learned that a 2020 Kia Optima traveled southbound on Winchester Road at a high rate of speed. After that, it slammed into the rear of a 2017 Ford Fusion stopped at the red traffic light.
The force of the two-car crash sent the Ford Fusion into the intersection where it collided with a 2016 Toyota Corolla.
34-year-old Joshua Morris, of Temecula, failed to apply his brakes as he approached the Ford from behind. As a result, Amy Litteral died of fatal injuries.
39-year-old Sarina Cameron, of Temecula – a passenger inside the Kia – sustained minor injuries, which urged paramedics to transport her to Inland Valley Medical Center.
Meanwhile, Stephany Heraldez of San Marcos — the Toyota driver — escaped injury.
Escaping injury, as well, Morris purportedly demonstrated signs of impairment during the investigation. As a result, police officers arrested him on suspicion of DUI.
Now, friends and families are remembering Litteral – a single mother of an 11-year-old boy – as they help raise awareness and funds for her memorial through a GoFundMe.
We’d like to take this moment to express our condolences to the friends and family of Amy Litteral.
