William Chavez-Castro Detained for DUI After Striking, Killing Pedestrian at Union Avenue and East 4th Street
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 22, 2020)—A DUI pedestrian accident on Union Avenue at East 4th Street claimed one man’s life Wednesday night.
The fatal incident took place in the 400 block of Union Avenue around 11:50 p.m. Officers responded and found 24-year-old William Chavez-Castro at the scene. In their investigation, officers determined that he’d been impaired at the time of the accident, which left the male pedestrian with severe injuries.
Furthermore, officers determined that the pedestrian had crossed against a red light as Chavez-Castro entered the intersection.
Shortly after, paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Castro, who escaped harm, was arrested for driving under the influence and without a license. Police subsequently booked him into the Kern County Jail.
