Stephen Briseno Arrested in DUI Two-Car Crash on 8 Freeway Near Baltimore Drive
LA MESA, CA (May 22, 2020) — Two people were hospitalized Thursday following a DUI two-car accident on the 8 Freeway near Baltimore Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 12:10 a.m. on the eastbound side of the freeway.
Authorities determined that Stephen Briseno was at the wheel of a 2009 Cadillac CTS in the No. 2 lane, traveling at a high rate of speed.
Consequently, his Cadillac rear-ended a 2017 Honda Civic—an Uber Rideshare vehicle which had been shuttling a 22-year-old female passenger at the time.
The force of the impact caused the Honda to lose control and overturn.
In the wake of the crash, paramedics brought the Uber driver to a hospital for major injuries, along with his passenger who sustained minor injuries.
Officers arrested Briseno after he exhibited signs of impairment. Briseno, who sustained no injuries and had been the sole occupant of his Cadillac, was booked into the San Diego County Jail.
Driving while under the influence is a recipe for disaster. Above all, always remember that drinking and driving do not go in tandem. When under the influence, look to other forms of transportation, such as calling a family member or a Rideshare service. You’ll save yourself the trouble.
