Motorcyclist Crashes Into Vehicle, Dies in Cambria Motorcycle Accident on Highway 1
CAMBRIA, CA (May 18, 2020) — A rider died in a motorcycle accident on Highway 1 near Ardath Drive involving a Jeep SUV on Friday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash involved a motorcycle and a Jeep Cherokee that collided. According to reports, they crashed in the southbound lanes of Highway 1 around 3:23 p.m.
CHP officers believe the driver of the Jeep used the shoulder lane of the road to make a U-turn; however, it happened to have crossed into the path of the oncoming motorcyclist, causing the two vehicles to collide.
Paramedics responded shortly thereafter and shuttled the victim to a hospital, where the rider died.
Officers do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, but they are encouraging witnesses to call the CHP if they have more information.
