1 Dead in Moreno Valley Accident at Gilman Springs Road
MORENO VALLEY, CA (May 19, 2020) — A driver died following Sunday’s multi-vehicle fiery accident at Gilman Springs Road and Eden Hot Springs Road.
According to authorities, the crash took place around 10:47 p.m. and involved at least four cars. A witness reported seeing the driver of a pickup truck travel westbound on the road when for unknown reasons, the driver struck an eastbound semi-tractor.
The force had been so strong that the engine of the pickup truck ejected from the vehicle. Shortly after, a fire engulfed, goading witnesses to help extinguish the blaze.
At some point during the accident, multiple cars crashed into the vehicles. However, information surrounding how the other cars collided with the tractor-trailer and pickup truck was unavailable.
By 11:33 p.m., authorities confirmed one fatality. The driver of the pickup truck who remains unidentified sustained fatal injuries at the scene.
In the wake of the accident, paramedics assessed five patients at the scene, who declined hospital transport.
Details remain unclear as to what drove the accident or whether speed or impairment played a role.
Our hearts and deepest sympathies go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
