Person Dies after Bakersfield Semi-Truck Collision on Old River Road and Copus Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 18, 2020)—A Sunday evening collision involving a semi-truck at Old River Road and Copus Road left one person dead.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident befell at Old River and Copus roads around 5:30 p.m.
Officials determined that a Subaru sedan heading north on Old River Road crashed into a semi-truck when the Subaru driver missed a stop sign.
CHP Sgt. Frank Deleon said the sedan traveled left through the intersection before crossing into the semi-truck’s path.
Two others riding in the sedan suffered minor injuries while the semi-truck driver was not hurt.
In their investigations, officers learned that neither alcohol nor drugs played a role in the accident; however, more investigation continues.
