2 Injured in DUI Car Collision on Longford Street [San Diego, CA]
2 Drivers Hurt in San Diego DUI Accident
SAN DIEGO, CA (May 7, 2020)—A two-car DUI accident at Longford Street and Clairemont Mesa Boulevard sent two people to the hospital Monday evening.
According to authorities, the crash occurred in the 5000 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard around 7:00 p.m.
Authorities determined that a woman in a 2018 Honda CRV tried making a left-hand turn onto Longford Drive from westbound Clairemont Mesa Boulevard. That is when a 44-year-old man in a 1999 Dodge Dakota truck failed to stop at a red traffic light and slammed into her vehicle.
As a result, the 56-year-old woman suffered internal bleeding, multiple back fractures and bowel injuries in the crash. However, the man sustained a fractured femur. As a result, paramedics transferred the patients to nearby hospitals.
Through investigations, authorities learned that DUI played a factor in the Dodge driver’s part. However, more investigation on this crash is underway by the San Diego Police Department’s traffic division.
