Man Killed in Antioch Pedestrian Crash
ANTIOCH, CA (May 11, 2020)—A man died in a pedestrian accident Friday night on Highway 4 near Laurel Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, authorities say the 29-year-old man from Pinole died after a vehicle struck him near the Laurel Road off-ramp around 9:20 p.m.
The 23-year-old Bethel Island woman driving the Nissan sedan westbound on the highway suffered serious injuries in the crash. Paramedics ushered her to John Muir Hospital in Walnut Creek for treatment. Meanwhile, her two passengers avoided harm.
At this time, investigators are unsure as to why the man was in the roadway, where the driver became unable to avoid hitting him.
