13-Year-Old Boy Killed in Major Car Accident Involving 20 People [Baldwin Park, CA]
Young Boy Dies, Angel Aragon Involved in Baldwin Park Car Crash
BALDWIN PARK, CA (May 12, 2020) — Tragedy befell following Sunday’s deadly multi-vehicle crash on the 10 Freeway near the Francisquito Avenue off-ramp.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Angel Jesus Aragon failed to stop his tow truck in time for stopped traffic and rammed into a Toyota Corolla occupied by one person inside.
In a failed attempt to avoid the imminent crash, the 32-year-old tow truck driver also slammed into a gray 2018 Nissan Murano, occupied by five people. The impact sent the Nissan crashing into the center divider wall before a Dodge Ram pickup struck its right side.
CHP officers say the 13-year-old had been sitting in the Nissan’s right side of the rear seat at the time of the accident, where it took much of the force.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Corolla that was initially hit struck a blue Kia Niro, which subsequently struck the rear of a white Honda Odyssey. The Honda Odyssey subsequently plowed into a blue Honda CR-V that struck a silver Toyota Corolla immediately after. Due to that impact, the Toyota Corolla struck the back of a flatbed tow truck.
At some point during the crash, a white Lexus was unable to avoid the pandemonium and struck the front of the Nissan Murano.
Due to accident, crews closed all 10 Freeway lanes around 1:50 p.m. Los Angeles County paramedics arrived in a helicopter. After that, paramedics transported victims to USC Medical Center with minor to major injuries.
Our hearts go out to the bereaved family and friends of the victim.
