Octavio TrejoCabrera Arrested in Fatal Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident in Lancaster
Octavio TrejoCabrera Detained after Fatal DUI Crash in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (May 12, 2020) — A woman died following Saturday’s DUI hit-and-run pedestrian accident on East Avenue L near Challenger Way.
According to Lt. Clinton Skaggs of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station, the accident happened around 7:20 p.m. when a man discovered a female victim near the intersection and alerted authorities. The witness also reportedly saw a car with front-end damage located farther down the road.
Deputies responded immediately and found the woman who had been hit moments earlier by an unknown vehicle. Shortly after, the Los Angeles County firefighters responded and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Deputies investigating the crash discovered a blue Nissan sedan left on the side of the 14 Freeway; however, the driver was nowhere to be found.
Further investigations, however, led traffic detectives to arrest the hit-and-run driver, Octavio TrejoCabrera. Police arrested the 29-year-old on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit and run causing injury or death.
With additional insight, police learned that the blue Nissan Sentra struck the unidentified woman on the north dirt shoulder when it veered off the road.
No other information surrounding the accident was available.
We would like to take this moment to express our heartfelt sympathies to the friends and family of the victim.
