Ricardo Aguilar Arrested for DUI After Hitting, Killing Bicyclist on Tennessee Street [Redlands, CA]
Ricardo Aguilar Detained Following Fatal Redlands DUI Bicycle Accident
REDLANDS, CA (May 11, 2020) — A man died following Thursday’s DUI bicycle crash at Tennessee Street and San Bernardino Avenue.
According to police, officers responded to reports of a crash around 8:00 p.m. and found a car and cyclist at the intersection. A nurse on her way home from her shift at Redlands Community Hospital stopped at the scene and treated the victim until paramedics took over. From there, emergency personnel transported the man to Loma Linda University Medical Center where he died shortly after.
As of now, investigators are working to determine his identity, although they surmise that he might have been a transient.
As for the driver—34-year-old Ricardo Angel Aguilar—police arrested him on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. Evidence showed that he’d been driving at a high rate of speed in a 1996 Toyota Camry before striking the bicyclist.
Police officers booked him at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino with a $250,000 bail.
