Fatal Plane Crash Leads to Vegetation Fire near Forest Road 2E43
RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA (April 30, 2020) – Police confirmed that a pilot got killed after a plane crash near Hemet on Thursday.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near Forest Road 2E43.
The victim was the pilot and only occupant of a twin-engine Piper PA23 that crashed in the remote area of southwest Riverside County. As a result, a vegetation fire broke out at the crash site and burned a quarter-acre.
The Riverside County Coroner’s Office proclaimed that the pilot died. The victim’s name has not been publicly announced. A Cal Fire crew put out the flames and hiked to the wreckage.
No other details are available. However, the FAA and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
