Virginio Ponce, Russel Ambrose Die in Two-Vehicle Collision at Fairview and Harvard Roads
NEWBERRY SPRINGS, CA (April 27, 2020) — A broadside collision Saturday morning at Fairview and Harvard roads turned fatal, officials confirmed.
The deadly incident happened at approximately 10:47 a.m. According to the San Bernardino County Coroner logs, an eastbound Jeep Wrangler traveling on Fairview Road struck a southbound Polaris Ranger on Harvey Road.
Due to the impact, 47-year-old Virginio Ponce — the front seat passenger of the Ranger — died at the scene. After that, Russel Ambrose, the 58-year-old Newberry Springs Jeep driver, died around 12:56 p.m. after being flown to St. Mary Medical Center.
New reports released no information surrounding the Ranger driver.
For now, the Barstow Office of the California Highway Patrol is investigating the ultimate cause of the accident. However, they hope anyone with information can step in and help them confirm the liabilities of the crash.
