Ronald Baldonado, James Buchanan Survive Fatal Accident
MALIBU, CA (May 4, 2020)—A driver died in Friday’s three-vehicle crash on Highway 1 near Deer Creek Road.
According to news reports, the collision involved a 2002 Ford flatbed truck, a 2002 international box truck and a 2011 Subaru SUV.
Around 11:44 a.m., 61-year-old Ronald Baldonado traveled south on Highway 1 in his Ford flatbed vehicle. As he slowed down to make a left onto Deer Creek Road, a southbound driver behind him failed to slow down for unknown reasons.
As a result, the 42-year-old man from Oxnard traveling behind Baldonado struck Baldonado’s vehicle. After that, it sent the Ford into the northbound lanes and hit a Subaru SUV, driven by 76-year-old James Buchanan, of Redondo Beach.
According to the CHP, all three cars sustained significant damage.
Unfortunately, the unidentified Oxnard man died in the crash.
Baldonado sustained moderate injuries while Buchanan suffered major injuries. As a result, paramedics transported both patients to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.
