Driver Killed in Rollover Car Crash on Meridian Road Near Kilkare Lane [Chico, CA]
1 Dead in Chico Rollover Crash
CHICO, CA (April 28, 2020)—An 80-year-old man died in a rollover car crash on Meridian Road near Kilkare Lane Sunday morning.
According to a California Highway Patrol press release, the crash unfolded around 10:30 a.m. A CHP officer responded to the crash to find two vehicles involved, one of which overturned.
Officers believe that the 80-year-old man driving the 1993 Chevrolet Tahoe had been heading northbound on Meridian Road. He tried to pass a 2020 Toyota Tundra pickup truck; however, in doing so, his Chevrolet struck the Toyota and overturned.
While the vehicle rolled over, the 80-year-old man was ejected from the vehicle since he was not wearing his seatbelt, as detectives confirmed.
As of now, investigators have not determined the underlying cause of the accident and whether alcohol or drugs played a factor.
Reports have also failed to include whether the Toyota driver sustained any injuries.
