Bicyclist Fatally Struck by Car in Oxnard Bicycle Crash on Statham Boulevard
OXNARD, CA (April 28, 2020) — A 49-year-old man perished Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Statham Boulevard near Statham Parkway.
According to officers, a driver operating a 2017 Honda Civic was heading northbound on Statham Boulevard around 4:29 a.m. Under unclear circumstances, the unidentified driver struck the bicyclist.
Police arrived shortly after and interviewed the 43-year-old driver of the Honda while the cyclist, who remains unidentified, received aid from EMT. Although paramedics rendered life-saving efforts, endeavors fell short and the cyclist died moments later.
Investigators are looking into every detail of the crash to determine the events that unfolded and whether speed or impairment played a role in the accident.
