Woman Killed in Collision with Train near 212th Street and 77th Avenue [Kent, WA]
Deadly Crash With Train Reported in Kent
KENT, WA (April 23, 2020) — A woman died Wednesday morning following a car collision with a train on South 212th Street and 77th Avenue South.
According to the police, the accident happened around 3:00 a.m. when the car approached a railroad train crossing. Police say the driver of the vehicle navigated around the crossing guards before it struck the rear side of the freight train.
Witnesses added that the car briefly stopped before driving away from the scene. Not long after, officers spotted the vehicle a short distance from the crash and used a PIT maneuver to get it to stop.
Their attempts at stopping the vehicle became successful and officers found two people inside the car: a woman in the passenger seat appeared gravely injured and unconscious. Although officers and paramedics tried resuscitating her, she died shortly after.
As for the driver, police arrested him or her but have yet to determine what led to the crash.
