Driver Killed in Police Chase Crash Near Olive Avenue and Cedar Avenue [Fresno, CA]
Deadly Police Chase Accident in Fresno
FRESNO, CA (April 24, 2020)—An innocent driver died Thursday afternoon following a police pursuit accident near Olive Avenue and Cedar Avenue.
According to police, the crash happened just after 3:30 p.m. when officers tried pulling over a red Mustang along East Olive Avenue.
When the officer approached the car, they noticed a holstered gun next to the driver; however, upon noticing that the officer had become aware of his weapon, the driver took off in the Mustang.
Another patrol unit spotted the car speeding toward the intersection of East Olive and North Cedar avenues. From there, they saw the Mustang travel from the east to the westbound lanes where it struck a westbound truck heading down Olive Avenue.
The impact had been so forceful that it sent the truck onto the sidewalk in front of a home. Unfortunately, the driver of the truck died at the scene.
As for the unidentified Mustang driver, he tried escaping law enforcement, but they grew successful in tracking him down and arresting him.
Officials included no other information regarding the accident.
