Daniel Castellaw, Christian Martinez Injured in 15 Freeway Crash [Cajon Pass, CA]
Daniel Castellaw, Christian Martinez Hurt in 15 Freeway 2-Car Accident Near Oak Hill Road
CAJON PASS, CA (April 24, 2020)—Four people sustained minor to major injuries following a two-vehicle crash on the 15 Freeway near Oak Hill Road.
Around 5:15 a.m. on the northbound 15 Freeway, a two-vehicle crash unfolded. When California Highway Patrol officers responded, they learned that a red 2017 Ford Mustang and a gray 2014 Toyota Prius collided and overturned sometime during the crash.
According to a CHP news release, 18-year-old Daniel Joseph Castellaw was driving his Ford Mustang at an unknown speed while 25-year-old Christian Jose Martinez was driving his Toyota Prius at approximately 70 miles per hour.
At this point, authorities are still investigating what caused the Ford Mustang to strike the Toyota. However, it sent both vehicles out of control and down an embankment.
As a result of the crash, Martinez, of Moreno Valley, suffered minor injuries. Castellaw, of Apple Valley, as well as his two 16-year-old female passengers from Victorville, suffered major injuries, prompting paramedics to airlift one of the teen girls to a trauma center.
The cause of the crash has not been determined, but officials urge witnesses to call Officer C. Dane at the San Bernardino CHP Office at (909) 383-4247.
