Pedestrian Dies in Seattle Crash on Rainier Avenue
SEATLLE, WA (April 21, 2020) — A 51-year-old man died in Thursday’s pedestrian accident at Rainier Avenue South and Martin Luther King Jr. Way South.
According to witnesses, the man in the wheelchair entered the intersection crosswalk around 9:15 p.m. Witnesses say that he crossed against the “Don’t Walk” pedestrian signal at the time a northbound van struck him on Rainier Avenue South.
The 61-year-old driver stayed at the scene. In addition, the driver cooperated with police. However, they determined that alcohol played no part in the cause of the crash.
The unidentified pedestrian died at Harborview Medical Center shortly after. However, information surrounding his name has not yet been confirmed.
