Olin Huckabee, Shane Stone Killed in High-Speed Police Chase Crash on Clinton Avenue [Fresno, CA]
Olin Huckabee, Shane Stone Die in Fresno Car Crash
FRESNO, CA (April 20, 2020) — Two drivers died in Thursday’s crash at East Clinton and North Palm avenues following a high-speed police chase.
According to Fresno police Lt. Bill Dooley, officers tried stopping a suspicious vehicle with expired registration tags around 4:30 p.m. However, the driver neglected to comply and sped off from Belmont Avenue near Roeding Park, leading police on a chase.
Witnesses informed police that the vehicle was traveling at approximately 100 miles per hour. Due to Shane Stone‘s high speed of travel, officers continued the chase but administered safety precautions by keeping a safe distance from his vehicle.
Soon after, tragic ensued as Stone ran a red traffic light and struck a Toyota Corolla, whose driver tried attempting a left turn from westbound Clinton Avenue onto southbound Palm Avenue. The catastrophic force sent both cars a block away from the point of impact.
Arriving crews found the side of the Corolla crushed in, trapping 55-year-old Olin Huckabee of Fresno. Unfortunately, neither he nor Stone survived the accident.
Officials had to close the intersection for cleanup and investigations.
In light of this heavy news, our law firm would like to express its condolences to the families and friends of Olin Huckabee and Shane Stone.
