3 Die in Head-On Accident on Palmdale Road Near Sheep Creek Road [Phelan, CA]
Triple Fatality Following Phelan Head-On Collision
PHELAN, CA (April 17, 2020) — Tragedy struck Thursday afternoon as a fiery head-on accident on Palmdale Road near Sheep Creek Road claimed three lives.
According to the California Highway Patrol, one vehicle ruptured into flames and a Good Samaritan driving a water tank stopped by to help extinguish the fire. Witnesses saw other people attempting to help hose down the blaze.
When San Bernardino County firefighters arrived, they found no survivors in the crash.
It appears that a black sedan and an SUV collided under unclear circumstances. However, a witness did say that as he was traveling westbound, one of the involved vehicles tried passing him, but collided with oncoming traffic near a slight incline of the road, perhaps making it difficult for any driver to anticipate an oncoming car.
Officials closed the east and westbound lanes of Palmdale Road as they investigated the ultimate cause.
For now, the identities of the victims have not been determined and anyone with information should call local authorities.
