2 Injured in Suspected DUI Crash on Pecos Road Near Russell Road [Las Vegas, NV]
DUI Likely Involved in Two-Vehicle Accident in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, NV (April 14, 2020) — Authorities determined that DUI likely contributed to Monday’s major-injury, two-vehicle DUI crash on Pecos Road near East Russell Road.
According to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Lt. David Gordon, the incident occurred around 5:00 a.m. just south of East Russell Road.
Witnesses say that a 2008 Jeep Patriot was heading northbound on Pecos Road before it plowed into the driver’s side of a 1999 Ford Taurus exiting a private driveway.
With evidence on hand, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department determined that the Ford driver failed to yield to the right-of-way of the Jeep driver.
As a result of the accident, the 28-year-old Ford driver suffered critical injuries and received treatment at Sunrise Hospital. Paramedics also brought a 34-year-old Ford passenger to Sunrise with moderate injuries.
Meanwhile, the Jeep driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, who ruled out impairment on the driver’s part. However, they concluded that the Ford driver might have been impaired at the time of the accident.
Because the accident lacks information, authorities will be investigating this crash at all angles.
Impaired driving is in no way considered safe driving. The effects of alcohol and drugs can rope us into precarious circumstances. To avert dangerous situations, do not get behind the wheel when under the influence of any mind-altering substance. Wait until you’re sober or seek other methods of safe transportation.
