Man Injured in Double-Truck Collision in Prunedale

 
PRUNEDALE, CA (April 10, 2020) — Two trucks collided Thursday morning in a crash on Highway 156 near Oak Hills Drive, causing major injuries to a San Jose man.
 
According to reports, California Highway Patrol responded to the crash at 9:16 a.m. Officials began investigating the crash that involved an armored truck and a large-engine flatbed truck on Highway 156.
 
Authorities learned that both vehicles, described as a 2018 Freightliner armored truck and a 1994 International attenuator truck, were heading westbound when the attenuator truck began merging right for unknown reasons.
 
The attenuator truck subsequently hit the armored vehicle before it landed on its driver’s side door, blocking the highway’s south shoulder. Meanwhile, the armored truck ended up in the north shoulder.
 
As a result of the crash, the driver of the armored vehicle sustained major injuries, prompting paramedics to transport him to Natividad Medical Center for treatment. Another ambulance transported the attenuator truck driver to Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
 
CHP officers have yet to release more details concerning the cause of the accident. Anyone with information should call local authorities.
