18-Year-Old Struck, Killed by UPS Truck in Traver Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99
TRAVER, CA (April 10, 2020) — An 18-year-old died Wednesday evening after a UPS driver struck him in a pedestrian accident on Highway 99 near Merritt Drive.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 7:45 p.m.
Authorities believe that the 18-year-old was driving northbound on Highway 99 when his tire blew out. The teen subsequently pulled the car over to begin inspecting his vehicle. Although, as he did so, a northbound UPS vehicle struck him, causing him fatal injuries.
In the investigation, authorities have ruled out impairment as a probable factor in the crash. The UPS driver is being cooperative during these investigative times.
As far as the victim’s identity goes, the coroner has yet to release his name pending notification of next of kin.
