Anthony Lopez Hospitalized Following DUI Two-Car Collision on Highway 101 Near Todd Road
SANTA ROSA, CA (April 9, 2020) — A DUI driver suffered severe injuries Monday night following a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101 near Todd Road.
According to California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer David deRutte, the crash took place around 10:50 p.m. Police arrested 23-year-old Anthony Garcia Lopez after they suspected him of driving under the influence; however, he has not been booked into the Sonoma County Jail following his release from Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.
In their investigation, officers determined that Lopez’s silver BMW sedan struck the center median wall on Highway 101 South. When Lopez exited his car, an oncoming white Honda Civic slammed into his BMW, as well as him.
As a result, Lopez sustained severe injuries and was treated at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital where officers arrested him. The Honda Civic driver also suffered injuries, but reports classified them as minor.
