Fatal Car Accident on 110 Freeway Near Wilshire Boulevard [Los Angeles, CA]
Teen Passenger Dies, Several Injured Following Los Angeles Accident
LOS ANGELES, CA (April 7, 2020) — A teen boy died in Sunday’s car accident on 110 Freeway near Wilshire Boulevard in the Los Angeles area.
According to California Highway Patrol Officer S. Brown, the deadly accident happened around 9:00 p.m. on the southbound 110 Freeway, just south of Wilshire Boulevard.
Four cars crashed, leading to the 16-year-old boy’s death and the injuries of two men and a woman.
Brown detailed the events of the accident, which investigations proved that neither alcohol nor drugs had been involved.
Per investigations, authorities learned that a 2012 Ford Edge, traveling in the No. 5 lane, made an unsafe turning movement for unknown reasons. The Ford Edge driver lost control of the vehicle and struck the right concrete wall. Subsequently, it collided with a 2006 Hyundai Azera, which was traveling in the No. 5 lane, as well.
From there, a chain-reaction collision ensued, involving a 2009 Nissan Versa in the No. 5 lane and a 2000 Nissan Quest in the No. 4 lane.
In the aftermath, a 16- year-old boy riding in the Edge suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. The 18-year-old driver and 18-year-old female passenger of the Ford Edge suffered minor injuries. Reports noted that also a 59-year-old man in the Versa sustained minor injuries.
At this time, the teen’s identity and the cause of the accident have not been released.
