Street Racing Leads to Injury Crash near El Norte Street
MONROVIA, CA (April 4, 2020) – The authorities rescued two people who got injured after a street racing crash in the 1900 block of South Myrtle Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened near El Norte Street around 1:08 PM.
Monrovia Police said that two vehicles were seemingly racing when one car swerved from the southbound lane into the northbound lane and collided head-on into an upcoming vehicle.
The impact split the racing vehicle in half. Its rear half struck an Edison pole before catching fire. The electrical pole broke, leaving wires hanging.
The driver of the racing vehicle was ejected. The victim suffered major life-threatening injuries. The driver of the other vehicle had major non-life-threatening injuries. Both motorists were taken to hospitals for treatment.
The other racing vehicle did not stop, and could not be located. As a result, an investigation was ongoing.
