Tanner Robinson Arrested after Fatal DUI Crash on Highway 12 [Santa Rosa, CA]
Tanner Robinson Allegedly Impaired During Deadly Two-Car Collision on Highway 12 at Oakmont Drive
SANTA ROSA, CA (April 3, 2020)—A suspected DUI two-car accident Thursday morning on Highway 12 at Oakmont Drive claimed a driver’s life.
According to California Highway Patrol’s Santa Rosa Area Spokesman David deRutte, the incident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m.
Authorities learned that the driver of a tree trimming truck towing a woodchipper might have been under the influence at the time of the accident.
CHP identified 29-year-old Tanner Robinson as the tree trimming truck driver who drove eastbound on Highway 12, approaching the intersection with Oakmont Drive.
For unknown reasons at the time, he ran the red traffic light and struck the left side of a blue Honda Civic. However, the unidentified driver of the Honda tried making a legal left turn onto westbound Highway 12 when the collision occurred.
Due to the brute force, the Honda driver suffered fatal injuries. However, the Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office plans to release the person’s identity once the next of kin has been notified.
Officers are holding Robinson in lieu of $100,000 bail pending a court appearance set for Monday afternoon. In addition, investigators believe Robinson was impaired at the time of the crash.
