Passenger Killed in Solo-Car Accident on 880 Freeway Near 238 Freeway [San Leandro, CA]
1 Dead, 1 Injured Following San Leandro Accident
SAN LEANDRO, CA (March 23, 2020) — A man succumbed to his injuries following Thursday night’s single-vehicle accident on 880 Freeway near the 238 Freeway.
The name of the victim has not been made public due to the pending notification of his family.
According to California Highway Patrol Sgt. Keith Nguyen, the fatal victim was a passenger in a Honda Civic that plowed into a sound wall around 9:20 p.m.
The accident, which occurred on the southbound side just north of the 238 Freeway interchange, forced crews to close the two rightmost lanes of the freeway around 9:55 p.m. As soon as they wrapped up their preliminary investigation around 12:10 a.m., all five southbound lanes reopened.
