Driver Killed in Collision on Highway 99 near Taft Highway [Bakersfield, CA]
Semi-Truck Strikes Vehicle, Killing Driver in Bakersfield
BAKERSFIELD, CA (March 23, 2020) — A Sunday morning two-vehicle collision on Highway 99 involving a semi-truck near Taft Highway resulted in a fatality.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers responded to the intersection of Highway 99 and Taft Highway to find an overturned big rig and another vehicle off the road.
CHP officers determined that around 4:00 a.m., the big rig struck the rear of a Volkswagen Jetta. As a result, the impact sent both cars off the roadway. Unfortunately, the Volkswagen driver died at the scene. However, his or her residence and name are unavailable. As for the big rig driver, he sustained moderate to major injuries.
