Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Accident on 5 Freeway
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 27, 2020)—A man died in a hit-and-run pedestrian accident Wednesday night on the 5 Freeway near Florin Road.
According to news reports, authorities responded to a call about a man lying in the center median around 10:34 p.m. Callers informed dispatch that the man proceeded to lie down on the No. 2 northbound lane for unknown reasons.
However, by the time units arrived at the scene, the pedestrian had already died after being struck by multiple vehicles.
During their preliminary investigation, California Highway Patrol learned that the man had been struck by a vehicle in the southbound lanes of the 5 Freeway. After that, the victim proceeded to crawl to the northbound lanes where several cars fatally struck him.
The first car that struck the man, described as a silver model, left the scene. However, police are conducting an investigation into the driver’s whereabouts.
