ORANGEVALE, CA (January 4, 2021)—A man perished Thursday following a pedestrian accident on Hickory Avenue near Central Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened as the pedestrian tried crossing the road.
 
During the investigation, detectives learned that the southbound driver struck the man in the roadway.
 
Per reports, the driver did not see the man until the last moment, when attempts to dodge him fell short.
 
The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with police. According to investigators, police do not plan to charge the driver and neither speed, alcohol nor drugs played a factor in the accident.
