Major Injuries Sustained in Red Light Car Accident on Road 196
TULARE COUNTY, CA (March 24, 2020) – Police confirmed that at least four people suffered injuries in a car accident on Road 196 on Tuesday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened near Avenue 144 at approximately 5:30 PM.
Based on reports, a green Nissan Altima ran a red light and slammed into a red Dodge Charger.
Two people sustained major injuries and airlifted to Kaweah Delta Medical Center in Visalia. One person suffered moderate injuries and rushed to Sierra View Medical Center in Porterville. Another passenger suffered only minor injuries and declined hospitalization.
Roads were blocked in both directions for more than an hour as officers investigated the case. However, no other details were released.
Slow down when approaching intersections and stop at stop signs to avoid red-light car accidents. However, follow traffic regulations at all times.
