72-Year-Old Thomas Sturdy Dies in Bicycle Crash on Overton Road [Tucson, AZ]
Vehicle and Bicycle Involved in Fatal Crash on Overton Road near La Cholla Boulevard in Tucson
TUCSON, AZ (November 20, 2020) – Police identified Thomas Sturdy as the victim who died in a bicycle crash on Overton Road on Friday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the collision happened near La Cholla Boulevard around 10:14 AM.
Based on a report, the bicyclist collided with a passenger vehicle. At this time, the details that led to the collision are not yet available. As a result, Pima County Sheriff’s deputies said they found the victim conscious and alert with an apparent leg fracture.
Rural Metro Fire transported him to the hospital, where his condition worsened. He later died due to severe injuries. PCSD identified him as 72-year-old Thomas Sturdy.
The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene. Initially, police said neither speed nor impairment appears to be a factor in the crash. However, the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
