Kaleb Shipman Dies in Rollover Accident on East Broadway Boulevard [Tucson, AZ]
Kaleb Shipman Perishes Following Two-Car Collision on East Broadway Boulevard Near South Kolb Road
TUCSON, AZ (October 22, 2020)—A 17-year-old died during Monday’s rollover accident on East Broadway Boulevard near South Kolb Road.
According to the Tucson Police Department, the rollover crash involved two cars and befell around 1:09 p.m.
In the 7000 block of East Broadway Boulevard, Tucson fire medics responded to find that the driver of a 2009 Smart car had died at the scene. Authorities have identified the driver as Kaleb Alexander Shipman.
According to investigations, Shipman had neglected to wear a safety belt when he crashed his eastbound Smart Car into a 2017 Kia Optima exiting a private driveway.
The forceful impact partially ejected Shipman from the vehicle and the car ended up overturning onto its side.
Following discussions with witnesses, officers determined that the Smart car was possibly traveling more than the 40-mph speed limit.
At this time, impairment has been ruled out as a possible factor of the accident and police have not cited or charged the Kia driver, but witnesses looking to help with the case, should call the Tucson police department.
In light of this heavy news, we’d like to send our sincere thoughts to the bereaved family and friends of Kaleb Alexander Shipman.
