YUBA CITY, CA (October 16, 2020) – Police confirmed that a vehicle struck and killed a woman on Live Oak Boulevard on Friday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision happened near Eager Road at approximately 7:40 PM.
Based on a report, a 2014 Chevrolet Traverse stopped in the southbound lane of the road after a minor injury crash. The 44-year-old victim and a 54-year-old woman exited the vehicle to tend to a 4-year-old girl and a 2-year-old boy in the back seat. Subsequently, a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox traveling south on Live Oak struck the women and collided with the stalled Traverse.
As a result, the victim died due to severe injuries. Officials did not yet release her name, pending kin notification. The other woman suffered serious injuries.
The driver, a 77-year-old Yuba City man, told authorities he did not see the vehicle or either pedestrian in dark conditions. An investigation into the case is on-going.
